The mining and mineral processing industries utilize some of the largest and most sophisticated equipment and machinery in the world. Surface and underground mines and the associated mineral processing facilities operate machinery, infrastructure, and systems that may be comprised of unique, custom-designed machines that can cost tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars. Conversely, mines also utilize mass-produced “off-the-shelf” components on a daily basis.

BOYD has participated in numerous legal disputes relating to mining equipment and infrastructure. Some of these are related to mining equipment performance, including reliability, operating capacities, or failures. Other assignments involved the suitability of particular machinery, adherence to safety standards, or accidents/injuries.
